2015 'Limestone' Essenheim Weingut Braunewell

Grapes Pinot Noir
Colour Red
Origin Germany, Rheinhessen
ABV 13%
Vineyard Essenheim

Seriously appetising Pinot here from the dynamic Stefan Braunewell. This comes from Essenheim, a true hot-spot for Pinot Noir in Germany. This is an outstanding example; light and bright with loads of charm up front but a great, intense core - full of savour and well defined fruit. Bright heights are hit - but the measure and flow keep this steady and impressive. Knocks the socks off many Burgundian Pinots at this price with its super elegance and balanced intensity. L&S (Nov 2019)

Weingut Braunewell

François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz.
It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)
