2016 Sauvignon Blanc Two Rivers of Marlborough

Grapes Sauv Blanc
Colour White
Origin New Zealand, South Island
ABV 13.5%

As the name may suggest, this is from a higher altitude vineyard in the Southern Valleys area of Marlborough. Hand-picked grapes, barrel fermented in large barrels; aged for 10 months. Whilst still clearly still Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, there is much more finesse on display here, good acidity, nice clean lines, clean fruit, some minerality too. L&S (Sept 2019)

Two Rivers of Marlborough

David Clouston is originally from Marlborough, and after 22 vintages abroad from Oregon to Chile, Corsica to Alsace, he returned home and set about exploring the valleys and diverse terroirs of Marlborough. The main production is the Sauvignon made from fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau river valleys, whence the 'Two Rivers of Marlborough' name, but his hillside Pinot Noir is showing great potential.
