CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY

2016 1er Cru Les Fuées Domaine Faiveley

EN PRIMEUR

Cask sample. 50% stems. Light to mid cherry red. A little less open than the Beaux Bruns. As with the Nuits-St-Georges Aux Chaignots, you can see the inclusion of stems on the nose in a lightly herbal character but it is not in the least unripe, just fragrant – it opens delightfully in the glass. Dry finesse and long, scented fruit on the palate. Super-refined. Needs time. Drinking range: 2021 - 2029 Rating: 17 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2018)

(more than 50% of the potential crop was lost to frost; vinified in a new 3.5-hectoliter barrel with 50% whole clusters; one-third of these vines were planted in 2010): Bright, saturated medium red. Knockout perfume of cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry and white pepper. Vividly high-pitched and fine-grained in the mouth, with its penetrating, floral red fruit flavors accented by pungent crushed-stone minerality. Delivers outstanding intensity without weight, not to mention superb inner-mouth tension and saline complexity. This fabulously perfumed wine finishes with terrific rising length. This wine may not have the volume or power of the Combe d'Orveau but I suspect it will dance on its sibling's grave. Rating: 93-95 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)

(vinified with 50% whole cluster and raised in a new 350 liter barrel). While the wood influence on the plum, dark cherry, violet and spice aromas is more subtle it’s by no means invisible. The wonderfully sleek, intense and even more mineral-driven medium weight flavors culminate in a firm, serious and moderately austere finale. As with the Combe d’Orveau, my predicted range assumes that the wood will ultimately be absorbed. Drinking range: 2028 - Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2018)

20% bunches. Not affected by frost (Bonnes Mares beneath was). Intense ripe raspberry aroma. Juicy and pure. It is ripe, but has a lively freshness too. It is elegant and intense and balanced. I like the flowers and minerals on the finish. Rating: 18.65 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2017)

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.

STORAGE OPTIONS:

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.
