The second vintage of this for us, the 2016 Aimée follows the sleek and easily drinkable style of the 2015 with a wine that is really very similar in style. With the fresh balance and accuracy of the 2016 vintage, this is possibly even better than the 2015, with good depth of fruit, nicely-judged acidity and velvet-fine tannins. There's wood spice and even cigar-box giving an extra dimension to the cherry-plum fruit. L&S (Feb 2020)

Château Aimée

Owned by Phillippe Reich, Aimée is a vineyard of only three hectares, on the classic Pyrenean gravels of the Médoc, with vines that average average around thirty years old. The grapes are hand-picked. The winery is equipped with a sorting table, with the wine made in a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats, with a cold maceration prior to fermentation at 15°C for four or five days under carbonic snow, before a normal fermentation. At the décuvage, the skins are pressed with vertical press.
