A high-toned mix of floral, wild cherry, currant and mint flavors marks this tightly wound style. This is supported by fine-grained oak and similarly refined tannins, yet has the intensity to match, ending in a long, cascading aftertaste of fruit, spice and chalk. Drinking range: 2023 - 2045 Rating: 95 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Jan 2019)

Cask sample. Light to mid crimson. Ripe and dark, almost a little savoury, but there’s lovely red fruit too. Dark-fruited and chewy on the palate, firm but rounded. Dark chocolate on the finish. Drinking range: 2024 - 2034 Rating: 16.5 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2018)

(Faiveley vinified the old vines separately but then assembled them with the rest): Bright ruby-red. Alluring floral nose combines blackberry, black raspberry, violet and licorice. A savory and rather refined young Clos Vougeot, offering subtle notes of dark berries, flowers and earth rather than this grand cru's more typical black cherry and herb qualities. Nothing rustic about this highly promising Clos Vougeot! Rating: 92-94 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2018)

(blended from 3 separate parcels). Here too the wood treatment isn’t subtle though it doesn’t completely mask the mostly red berry fruit, earth and humus aromas. Once again there is both good volume and mid-palate density to the mouth coating big-bodied flavors that flash a mild touch of rusticity on the impressively long finale. Interestingly, this is a bit less youthfully austere than it usually is and overall, color me impressed. *Sweet Spot*. Drinking range: 2033 - Rating: 92-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2018)
