2016 Tongue in Groove

Organic fruit sourced from the Bellbird Spring Vineyard situated on north facing terraces carved out by the Waipara River. Foot stomped in three old barrels, with 100% whole bunch Pinot Gris in the first, 30% whole bunch Pinot Gris in the second and fully de-stemmed Gewurztraminer in the third. Fermented with natural yeasts with 23-28 days on skins and aged in barrels for 6 months with no additions or filtration. Aromas of cherry stones and quince, this intriguing wine opens up slowly to reveal, sweet canteloupe melon, wild roses and delicate aromatic spice. Drinking range: 2018 - 2023 L&S (Aug 2018)

Six friends, five of them Roseworthy graduates (although the winemaker, Lynette Hudson, is a graduate of Lincoln) were prompted to form this 'perfect fit' team by the Canterbury earthquake and the realisation that they had to get on with doing something themselves as well as working for others. All well-connected in the NZ wine scene, they are able to source outstanding fruit and clearly have the expertise to turn this into outstanding wines.
