Cask sample. Mid cherry. Smells as if there is a little more oak sweetness to the aroma here. Peppery and juicy with lively acidity. A discreet application of wood sets off distinctly earthy dark currant aromas that are cut with notes of humus and the sauvage. There is very good intensity and energy to the delicious and attractively textured flavors that culminate in a mouth coating, rustic and youthfully austere finish. This is a fine Nuits villages. Domaine Faiveley
The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.
