CHÂTEAU FOURCAS DUPRÉ

2017 Cru Bourgeois Haut Médoc

Grapes Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot
Colour Red
Origin France, Bordeaux
Sub-district Haut Médoc
Classification Cru Bourgeois
ABV 14%

Another solid effort from Listrac Médoc. The wine has plenty of tension and bite from firm acidity. Linear with a skinny feel, there is plenty of Listrac character: Bramble fruit, bell pepper and mineral charm. Good without being complex or compelling. Rating: 86 L&S (Apr 2018)

Mid crimson. Pretty dark fruit, a touch leafy. Tight and leafy on the palate too, fresh but without great substance, fine texture. Light and balanced. Drinking range: 2022 - 2030 Rating: 15.5 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Apr 2018)

The 2017 Fourcas-Dupre is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with an earthy nose of truffles and damp soil over a core of blackberries and black currants. The palate is medium-bodied and just a tad lean in the middle with a grippy finish. Rating: 81-83 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, RobertParker.com (Apr 2018)

The fresh, elegant 2017 Château Fourcas Dupré is a charming Listrac that has rock-solid balance and classic notes of ripe raspberries, spring flowers, and sappy herbs. With sweet tannin and an already delicious style, it’s ideal for drinking over the coming 5-7 years. Rating: 87-89 Jeb Dunnuck, www.jebdunnuck.com (Apr 2018)

Château Fourcas Dupré

A 46ha estate in Listrac, the highest point in the Medoc, with a mix of well drained soils, 80% Pyrenean gravels, 20% clay-limestone. Originally called Château Roulet, Jean Antoine Baptiste Dupré renamed the estate in 1843.

The vineyards are planted with 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Vinification is classical, with four weeks in vats, barrels and amphora, after which the wine is aged 14 fourteen months in french oak barrels, of which 25% are new each year. The consultant oenologist is Eric Boissenot.
