No change here really in terms of quantity as conditions throughtout the season were kind. They say that the whole of Gevery Chambertin was not touched by frost in 2016 nor 2017. After the Echezeaux this is immediately more intense, with a good, dark feel. More gloss and weight to the fruit core though. This is heady and has a great luxurious sweep to it some how. There's a mineral undertow too, gently persistent which adds freshness and length. Impressive stuff, gloriously fine and with succulent drive, and a gentle notch more robust than the Chambolle. 70% New Wood. They have 0.60 of a hectare in this plot which they share with two others - Rousseau and Roumier. Their parcel is in 'Ruchottes du Bas' with the forest right behind them, an erstwhile protector of the vines there from extreme conditions. Drinking range: 2021 - 2029L&S(Nov 2018)

This is the first wine to display more than a trace application of wood and here it’s not subtle though not so prominent as to dominate the otherwise cool, restrained and elegant wisps of earth, dark berries and a hint of game. The mineral-driven but enveloping middle weight plus flavors possess muscle and plenty of punch on the mocha-infused, youthfully austere and very serious finish. The most backward wine in the cellar is the 2017 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru, but it's immensely promising, unwinding in the glass with notions of wild berries, dark chocolate, potpourri, orange rind and smoky bass-notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent depth and dimension, tangy acids and a long, chalky finish. The 2017 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is matured in 70% new oak with more François Frères barrels than other cuvée. The fragrant, mineral-driven bouquet articulates the terroir supremely well. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannin, touches of brown spice intermingling with blackberry and bilberry fruit and merging with more red fruit and hints of fig and white pepper toward the persistent finish. First vintage in 2012 for blending younger and older vines. 50/50. This is very fresh and juicy and vibrant. There is no austerity here. Pure fruit and scintillatingly minerals. Perfect. Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg: Full Wine List and Profile
Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg was founded in 1933 on the marriage of Jeanne Gibourg and André Mugneret. Holdings then consisted of Bourgogne, village Nuits, village Vosne and Echezeaux. Their son Georges, an opthalmologist by day, added to the vineyards, but his acquisitions (Nuits 1ers Crus Vignes Rondes and Chaignots, Chambolle 1er Cru Feusselottes, and Grands Crus Clos Vougeot and Ruchottes Chambertin) were kept separate as Domaine Georges Mugneret. On Georges' death in 1988, his widow Jacqueline and daughter Marie-Christine took over. Marie-Andrée, the younger daughter joined them a little later having completed her studies as an oenologist. In 2009 the two domaine names were put together to become Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, ending the prior confusion of labels. The sisters have proved more than safe hands as far as the winemaking is concerned, and these are top-flight burgundies with that elusive balance of enough concentration allied with delicacy of expression and the capability to age well. All the vineyard management has been brought in-house (the domaine previously relied on two métayeurs for part of the vineyard) and the quality has reached new heights, its wines some of the most sought-after in the Côte de Nuits.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

OFFER: All wines are offered subject to availability and final confirmation.
PRICING: All prices are quoted IN BOND ex-VAT, by the case size stated. Please double check that the desired case size does match what is being offered as wines are variously listed in threes, sixes, dozens, halves and larger formats.
DELIVERY - TIMING: This is a primeur offer so the wines are not yet physically available for delivery. They will be shipped to the UK over the next eighteen months. Generally wines are shipped to your nominated location once the whole order has landed in our London City Bond account. If you require wines to be delivered by a certain date, please advise us at the time of ordering. We do not anticipate any problems but please be aware that delays to delivery may occur should Britain's possible departure from the European Union result in additional border customs checks or other regulatory requirements. Any additional or unforeseen duties, tariffs, charges or other financial liabilities relating to 'Brexit' must be due to the customer and will be added to orders as required.
DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. Transfer of wines to any third party bond (i.e. not Elephant Storage) will incur an administration charge of £16.50 + VAT for all orders under £1,000. If you require wines duty paid, please indicate this in your Wishlist order form. A duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.
PAYMENT: All orders will be invoiced for immediate payment by cheque, cash, debit card or cleared funds to our account. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards for primeur orders.
