Less than 20 HL/HA. Vines here average 70 years - explains the tiny yield. Again this is surprisingly easy, deeply inviting. Defined and pure but less of a wallop than in some previous years. Wilder forest fruit - lovely small mountain strawberries and bright red brambling fruit here, but totally delicious and the energy is high. Long, long finish. L&S (Nov 2019)

The higher elevation of the vineyard shows as the expressive and airy nose is even fresher though not necessarily more complex with its array of spiced plum, violet, lavender and wild dark berries. The super-sleek, intense and beautifully well-delineated middle weight flavors brim with minerality that adds a touch of vibrancy to the dusty, youthfully austere and bitter cherry-inflected finale. Lovely and understated in style though I underscore that this is very structured and serious. Drinking range: 2033 - Rating: 91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2021)

Tightly wound after its recent bottling, Dugat-Py's 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles unfurls in the glass with enticing aromas of peonies, wild berries, orange rind and spices, deftly framed by a judicious application of (50%) new oak. Medium to full-bodied, bright and elegantly muscular, with a concentrated, almost introverted core that's framed by powdery tannins, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. Drinking range: 2028 - 2068 Rating: 93+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is immensely promising this year, unfurling in the glass with complex aromas of wild blueberries, cassis, dark chocolate and coniferous forest floor. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with lively acids, rich structuring tannins and a long, penetrating finish. Domaine Dugat-Py owns one hectare of vines in this stony, higher-altitude hillside site, a location that's capable of producing some of Gevrey's finest communal wines, and its potential is fully realized in this cuvée. Rating: 91-93 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2020)

Domaine Dugat-Py

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
