MOREY SAINT DENIS

2019 Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru La Riotte Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

EN PRIMEUR

A very stony and mineral vineyard. Lovely nose - bright and pure with a ruby-like clarity to the top-note, it's slimline, focused, with 'enough' concentration and weight. Very linear and pure. Drinking range: 2026 - 2038L&S (Oct 2020)

* This is a pre-shipment/primeur offer. All orders are accepted under the TERMS of this offer which differ from the terms of the rest of the site.

Mingling aromas of small berries and cherries with hints of orange rind, loamy soil and cinnamon, the 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte is medium to full-bodied, layered and polished, with powdery tannins, lively acids and elegantly chalky back-end grip. Rating: 91-93 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

Glowing even purple with a very heady nose, real charm here, an explosion of fruit, dark raspberry, white pepper and fresh mineral finish, sweetly ripe fruit all across the palate, perfectly poised and inviting more. Tasted: November 2020 5/5 stars Rating: 93-95 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (Jan 2021)

Just under the little park in the centre of Morey. Cask sample. Very bright crimson. Quite muscular. Really lovely and quite supple but the village wines are so good, I’m not seeing a dramatic step up! (Though admittedly the Nuits is a blend of premiers crus.) Hint of cassis and smokiness and a tad more structure than the village wines. Very clean and lively with some whole-bunch influence on the finish. Drinking range: 2027 - 2043 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Dec 2020)

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has an intense, floral bouquet with macerated red cherries, Seville orange marmalade and iodine aromas that burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, dark cherries mixed with cassis and orange rind leading to a finish that exerts a gentle grip. This should evolve into a fine La Riotte. Drinking range: 2023 - 2036 Rating: 90-92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2020)

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.

STORAGE OPTIONS:

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.
