Grapes Petit Verdot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot
Colour Red
Origin France, Bordeaux
Sub-district Haut Médoc
Village Saint Estèphe
ABV 13%

The 2019 Les Pagodes de Cos has quite an elegant bouquet with ample brambly red fruit, cedar and light pencil shaving aromas. Quite precise. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, and fine acidity. Very Saint Estèphe in style, with a dry finish that might put off those seeking flesh and corpulence. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Drinking range: 2026 - 2045 Rating: 91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Feb 2023)

The 2019 Les Pagodes de Cos is powerful and explosive, with real energy that builds over time. Black cherry, menthol, licorice, chocolate and dried herbs are all kicked up. In 2019, the Pagodes offers striking power, breadth and resonance. It's a gorgeous wine in every way. Drinking range: 2025 - 2039 Rating: 93 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Les Pagodes de Cos has a vivacious bouquet featuring a mélange of blackberry and raspberry fruit that needs less time to settle in the glass compared to its primeur showing, and a light marine tang. The palate is beautifully balanced with superb salinity, quite Pauillac-like (still), with graphite/pencil lead toward the poised, persistent finish. This is an excellent Les Pagodes that is well worth a place in your cellar. Drinking range: 2024 - 2040 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Feb 2022)

This has attractive tannic hold and lift, it has stretched out over ageing, a little less gourmet than during En Primeur but great quality. Full of blackberry and smoked earth, with a core of freshness that gives lift through the finish. Great quality. 20% new oak. Drinking range: 2024 - 2036 Rating: 93 Jane Anson, Decanter (Jan 2022)
