The 2019 Les Pagodes de Cos has quite an elegant bouquet with ample brambly red fruit, cedar and light pencil shaving aromas. Quite precise. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, and fine acidity. Very Saint Estèphe in style, with a dry finish that might put off those seeking flesh and corpulence. The 2019 Les Pagodes de Cos has a vivacious bouquet featuring a mélange of blackberry and raspberry fruit that needs less time to settle in the glass compared to its primeur showing, and a light marine tang. The palate is beautifully balanced with superb salinity, quite Pauillac-like (still), with graphite/pencil lead toward the poised, persistent finish. This has attractive tannic hold and lift, it has stretched out over ageing, a little less gourmet than during En Primeur but great quality.
