Nowhere else can emulate the purity and precision that German Riesling has etched in its DNA and the Braunewell clan are particularly adept at expressing that in their beautiful Rieslings. This is straight up delicious, with notes of lime, mango, grapefruit and peach on the nose. In the mouth there is such a wonderful array of citrus and tropical fruits, which are beautifully underpinned by an intense, mouthwatering acidity. Never heavy, this is light on its feet and keeps your interest right to the last sip. Drinking range: 2021 - 2025 L&S (Feb 2021)

Weingut Braunewell
François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz.
It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)

From slate soils, as the name says, and it has a mineral lift and firmness. Floral aromatics and a bright juicy nectarine or white currant fruit. Quite dry, it has a fairly lemony acidity and a stony slick finish.
