Situated to the north of the city of Aix-en-Provence and looking out across the hills of the Luberon, this domaine has a long history of both wine and culture. Two Roman sarcophagi dating back to the 4th century have been found here, as well as a Gothic stela (an upright stone). And the wine? That’s made by Emmanuelle Baude who left her job as a solicitor to embark on this second career. Baude works organically and her wine has the subtle fragrance, so hard to pin down, that takes you straight to deepest Provence: a fragment of sandalwood, the perfume that rises from the craggy, herb-covered hillsides as dusk falls.
