The origin of the estate dates back to 1864 and its founder Comtes Jules Lafon. Dominique Lafon is the current proprieter of the estate, having taken over from René Lafon (Comtes Jules' grandson) in 1984. Dominique took the move towards organic farming at the vineyard, which then eventually led to biodynamic practices for the whole 13.8 hectare domaine in the late 1990s. The domaine expanded by a further 6 hectares in 2003 when land was purchased in the Maconnais region, the wine from which is sold under the Label of Héritiers du Comte Lafon.
