Château L'Enclos


Built in 1898 by Pierre Larroucaud Chateau L’Enclos was brought by Stephen and Denise Adams in 2006. The American owners have a number of properties in Bordeaux including Chateau Fonplegade in St. Emilion. The Chateau has been invested in heavily and keen to make the best wines possible, Stephen and Denise have sought the expertise of Jean Christophe Meyrou. Chateau L’Enclos has 9.5 hectares of vines planted on three different soil types – sand, gravel and flint. Merlot is the dominant grape variety (82%) with Cabernet Franc (17%) and Malbec (1%) making up the rest. Planted at 6,500 vines per hectare the average age of each plant is 31 years old.
