Château Paveil de Luze

France, Bordeaux

One of the oldest properties on the Médoc, Château Paveil de Luze has been in the de Luze family for six generations, since 1862. In 2004 the next generation of the family took over, headed by Frédéric de Luze who is also a co-founder of LD wines – one of the largest fine wine merchants in Bordeaux. He began a complete renovation of the Château the following yearas well as moving towards a more environmentally friendly approach to farming, with minimal use of pesticides and other techniques such as water management. The Château is set in Margaux and surrounded by a 32 hectare vineyard, where the vines have been planted in a single block of land. They predominantly grow Cabernet Sauvignon, as is typical of the left bank, and the gravelly soil of the vineyard is well suited to this grape.
