Domaine Theulot Juillot
Nathalie is the grand-daughter of Emile Juillot, after whom this domaine was still named the last time we had any of their wines. After an interregnum with all their names on the label in rather a confusing heap, it has finally been re-baptised. The surname of Jean-Claude Theulot, Nathalie's husband and the winemaker, finally takes its rightful place in the new double-barrel. The domaine's wines have steadily improved over the years, and represent great value.

Côte Chalonnaise Burgundy France
The biggest of the Theulot 1er Crus, in a voluminous, charming style. Rich, closed-in aroma, undergrowth wild hedgerow fruit, black fruit breadth, salty minerality gives it drive and makes it succulently delicious. It is on a south-facing slope with a deep marne (calcium-rich clay) soil which Nathalie says always gives a dense wine with lots of depth.
