Tenuta Monteti
Tenuta Monteti is situated in the southern part of the Maremma, some fifteen kilometres from the border of the region of Scansano, under the hill of Monteti, an amphitheatre which protects the estate from coastal winds. The twenty-five hectares of vineyard are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Alicante and Merlot in individual lots of one hectare, each vinified separately in the new, state of the art, winery. The wines are marked by a pronounced individuality, reflecting not only the 'terroir' of the region, but more importantly a freshness of fruit and balanced acidity which makes them so very drinkable. They are intentionally understated wines which perform on the palate in a musical fashion - a delicate introduction which builds to the most wonderful crescendo.

Maremma Tuscany Italy
Blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Alicante-Bouschet and 20% Merlot, which is matured twelve months in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, only a small percentage of which are new. This fullish bodied, southern Tuscan wine remains one of our best selling and best value wines, for all its spicy, sweet fruit, and even its slight funky character. The 2008 is more focussed and precise than the very ripe 2007.

The oak treatment is judicious, in spite of being in two thirds new barrels, and does not come through on the palate. This has lovely deep fruit, with a rich texture lifted by the freshness of the Cabernet Franc. Long and persistant on... (more info)
Maremma Tuscany Italy
Potentially the best vintage of Monteti that I have tasted. 55% Petit Verdot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvigon, aged eighteen months in French oak barrels, of which 70% are new. The oak is beautifully integrated with the very fine sweet fruit and rounded tannins. This is very smart indeed.
