    We recently tasted this with the charming Javier Hidalgo. He had personally decanted the bottle of en Rama we tasted - straight from the barrel, and this is the whole point of en Rama - the freshest purest way to enjoy this brilliant sherry - straight from the cask, without fining or filtration. Medium bodied, tangy dry and nutty, this is a very satisfying Manzanilla that is perfect for drinking on a summer's evening. This is 'La Gitana' on steroids. Delicious. and a slightly more lifted style than the Tio Pepe En Rama this year. (May 2015)

    Other reviews and comments
    Classic ozone and salty notes of Manzanilla with a floral touch and plenty of nutty and dry apple fruit, but there's a meatiness too. That meaty, umami flavour that is earthy and savoury follows through on the palate, giving this a broad mid-palate, before apple core and nuts and then a crisp lemony acidity gives this a typically fresh finish.

    Intense, fresh and yeasty with briny Marmite, almond and green apple-skin flavours...the closest you get to drinking sherry straight from the barrel as they do at home in Jerez and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. 90

    Founded in 1792 by José Pantaleón Hidalgo, and based in Sanlúcar de Barrameda in the south of Spain. Bodegas Hidalgo is the last remaining family run business to produce and export its own unblended, single-solera Sherries.

    Bottled direct from selected casks, without fining or filtration, this is as close as you get to tasting sherry direct from the barrel. Medium bodied, tangy dry and nutty, this is a very satisfying Manzanilla that is perfect for drinking with small bites of manchego cheeses, anchovies and chorizo. This is 'La Gitana' on steroids.
