2002 CHÂTEAU LYNCH BAGES 5ème Cru Classé Pauillac
| Grapes: Merlot Cabernet Franc Cabernet Sauvignon | Origin: France, Bordeaux |
Lea & Sandeman review
Less massive than the Ormes de Pez in the same stable, Lynch somehow managed to taste reductive every time I tasted it. Either that or it is a little green. Very intense, lean cassis, very dense and tannic, fine and pure. Judgement semi-suspended - I think its better than this really, but simply too early to taste.Other reviews and comments
The 2002 has turned out lighter and more herbaceous than I would have guessed. This medium-bodied wine reveals a dark ruby/purple-tinged color, and hints of cedar wood and tobacco in an evolved aromatic display which also includes herbs and black currants. Attractive in a superficial way, there is some tannin, but also a softness and charm. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
88/100
