Good volume and a certain seriousness of style (don’t you diss me). Quite big and rich, it will make a good classic Chasse Spleen. Rating: 89 L&S (Apr 2005)

Medium ruby. Inky aromas of kirsch, licorice and flowers. Supple, fresh and aromatic, with pliant, nicely concentrated black cherry and floral flavors. Finishes with big but broad tannins. Tasted next to the Poujeaux, this came across as distinctly softer. Rating: 86-88 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (May 2005)

A solid red, with berry, currant and spice on the nose and palate. Medium- to full-bodied, with good tannins and a medium finish. Slightly hollow mid-palate. 33,330 cases made. Rating: 85-88 James Suckling, The Wine Spectator (Apr 2005)
