Lea & Sandeman review
‘All the press wines were very good. The Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon were magnificent. The Merlots had a bit of a gap in the mid-palate, but the blends have been amazing’, said Didier Cuvelier - and indeed Poyferré is magnificent this year. Very deep colour, purple to black. Pure cassis as sweet as anything, really lovely dry concentration undistracted by any puppy fat. Powerful. (‘We do 92/100Other reviews and comments
Silky and refined, with a good depth of fruit and ripe tannins. Medium- to full-bodied. Long finish for the vintage. 20,000 cases made.

Particularly deep crimson. Hidden but intriguing nose. Some tobacco and leather. Lots there, all buried and unexposed. Great concentration and depth but just a bit stolid. Lots of firm but ripe tannins. This should make good but not great old bones.

Bright ruby-red. Very expressive nose offers redcurrant, tobacco, flowers and nutty oak. Supple, silky and pliant but with good energy to its red fruit and floral flavors. Finishes with broad, sweet tannins and a lingering note of tobacco. This remains quite open and appears to be evolving very much like the 2001.
