All Gevrey in style, if one at the fine and mineral end of the spectrum. Really on the aromas of blackcurrant and cassis, delicious fruit depth and length.

Vines an average age of 70 years old. 95% whole grapes. 100% new oak. Perfumed solid and with raciness! Juicy and lively much less plodding than the earlier wines, should make graceful old bones. 2018-2030

(from vines averaging 75 years of age, cropped at just 23 hectoliters per hectare; Dugat bought another parcel before the 2009 harvest) Deep red. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate. Wonderfully sweet and lively; more harmonious than the village wines, offering solid mineral-driven energy. The long finish features tongue-dusting tannins. This is very promising.
90 - 93/100

Again, there is a lot of new oak dominating the nose but there is probably better definition than on the Village Crus. The palate has a dense, rich entry, a lot of new oak entwined with broody dark fruits with touches of spice and a little espresso towards the masculine finish.
88 - 90/100

Again, the fruit is very ripe but with a completely different profile as the wild red and black fruit aromas are intensely earthy and animale in character. The rich, dense and serious medium-bodied flavors are supple on the mid-palate but firm up quickly on the almost aggressively mineral-infused finish. A magnificent villages that should age well though will need a lot of cellar time. 2021+
91 - 93/100

The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is deep, dark and sensual in its inviting layers of dark fruit, spices and menthol. Clean, mineral notes frame the long, intensely satisfying finish. This saw 100% new oak, but you would hardly know it based on the wine's exceptional balance.
90 - 92/100

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
