2009 Julian Madrid Bodegas Casa Primicia

Grapes Mazuelo, Tempranillo, Graciano
Colour Red
Origin Spain, Rioja
ABV 13%

Named in honour of current winemaker - Iker's grandfather who founded the bodega - this fabulous Reserva really delivers. Polished, deep morello cherry fruit - lovely leather and spice mingle on the mid-palate. The oak is there of course, but so well balanced, adding a creamy feel and vanilla note in the background. Sexy and deep - but already very attractive drinking.

*Case Price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price discount' for each bottle. Free mainland delivery for all orders over £100.

Julian Madrid, a local grape-grower founded the Casa Primicia winery more than 50 years ago, today his grandson is at the helm and the wines bear testament to the inherited understanding of this exceptional terroir in La Guardia - but also a clear comprehension of modern viticulture and today's very best practices. The results are clear in the top quality wines that are being made here. Huge personality and that extra shad of spring and fruit freshness so often lacking in wines from this region. We were delighted to discover them and tasting with Iker was a revelation. Super wines, well worthy of your attention from the JT - Joven Tinto - up to the Rioja Reserva named in honour of the estates founder, grandpa - Julian Madrid.
