70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot. Gorgeous crunch and definition to this wine, which has the classic Sangiovese feel filled out on the mid-palate by the additions of Sagrantino and Merlot. Best vintage we have yet had of this wine. L&S (Jun 2013)

Caprai's 2010 Montefalco Rosso comes across as a bit feminine and lightweight in this vintage. Sweet red cherries, flowers, tobacco, spices and licorice all take shape in the glass, but the wine's medium-bodied structure suggests the Rosso is best enjoyed over the next 2-3 years at most. Arnaldo-Caprai
The Caprai winery and vineyards lie on the hillside below the Umbrian hilltop town of Montefalco. Founded in 1971 by Arnaldo-Caprai Caprai, and now in the hands of his son Marco, the estate has become the leading producer of Sagrantino wines in the region. Sagrantino shows no resemblance to any of Italy's other grape varieties, and is almost exclusive to the region of Montefalco - it is thick-skinned, small bunched and small-berried, but big in every other way: colour, tannins, acids, extracts, and sugars.
