As weird as ever to taste this in amongst the Côte de Nuits wines. Structured and fat, a massive wine with pepper and spice and opulent fruit. Dense. Very thick dry tannins, which are all part of the rich appeal. Like the Nuits St Georges, a big wine.

Expressive aroma with herbs and notes of the garrigue – just a hint of lavender. Sweet on the attack. Taut, but ripe tannins, very fresh and spicy. Lovely purity of fruit. Straight and purposeful and juicy on the finish. Good tension and minerality at the end. This has a very good finish. Very good indeed. From 2015

(from En Brescul, which sits high on the slope next to Petits Noizons and has very white soil). An earthy and admirably pure red berry fruit, earth and underbrush suffused nose introduces racy and equally pure flavors that brim with a fine minerality on beautifully well-delineated, firm, serious, balanced and solidly persistent finish. This is lovely juice but note that this will require plenty of aging, particularly for a villages level wine. 2020+

Pale blueish crimson. Solid, a bit earthbound and then some light, sweet fruit. Very chewy end. 2015-2020

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
