Broad and fat, big and blunt, a broadsword to the Garenne's rapier. Mouthfilling and fat. Classic Morgeot in the most vibrant style. Very rich finish. Very pure even though a huge wine. L&S (Nov 2011)

The sweetness of the fruit gives a fleshy richness on the palate but it is balanced by the citrus that lies beneath. The layers of fruit give complexity lots of greengage backed by apple with the sweeter fruit coming through at the back and enriching the finish. 2014-18 Rating: 93 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

The terrific 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is beautifully balanced from start to finish. It comes across as more reserved than the Folatières, with enough acidity and overall structure to frame the fruit. As always, this is a big, broad-shouldered white that needs time in bottle to settle down. Veins of brisk, saline minerality frame the finish. This is all finesse and class. Incidentally, a recent bottle of the 2002 was fabulous. Rating: 94 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

Pale bright yellow. Ripe pear, white flowers and a note of coconut on the fragrant nose. Then dense and vibrant in the mouth, showing superb energy and definition to its pear, spice and white pepper flavors. Finishes with enticing saline minerality and an impressively tactile quality. A superb vintage for this bottling, but in need of some cellaring. Rating: 92(+?) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sept 2012)

Joseph Drouhin

Despite the size of their vineyard holding, not all Drouhin's wines come from their own domaine, but most of the other wines do come from long-term contracts, such as exists with the Marquis de Laguiche wines. In all but name these wines are 'Domaine' wines, and the vineyards are cared for and the wines vinified with exactly the same care.
