Very pretty sweet fruit and purity, actually quite rich and with good intensity. A mineral, cool directedness. L&S (Jan 2013)

The nose has a fragrant charm and the start of the palate is very fresh with a raspberry character. There is a slight lack of depth on the back palate very fresh and red fruited. 2014-19 Rating: 89 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

(a mix of vine ages though the oldest date from 1938). There is more complexity here on both the nose and the palate with a perfumed mélange of fresh and pure red currant, plum and floral scents. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension and fine delineation to the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that are notably permeated by an almost pungent minerality on the long, balanced and delicious finish. This is worth considering. 2019+ Rating: 90-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2013)

(from a cool site picked near the end of the harvest here): Very good deep red. Pungent aromas of raspberry, red cherry, crushed stone and rose petal. Very fresh, dry and classic, with distinctly darker flavors of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and minerals. The longest and most saline yet of this range, giving off complex finishing notes of dark berries, coffee, licorice, minerals and mint. Just 5% new oak here. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Feb 2013)

Domaine Chandon de Briailles

One of the great family domaines of the Côte d'Or, housed in the remarkable manor house at Savigny, with excellent holdings in Savigny itself and in neighbouring Pernand and on the hill of Corton. Organic since 1988 and, now, biodynamic (fully certified by Demeter and Ecocert). It is run by brother and sister François and Claude de Nicolaÿ. As François explains, they do not make 'bêtes de concours' or competition wines, but ones you drink. They have over the last few years progressed the renewal of the barrels of the domaine - there is still very little actual new wood, 5% new wood on the premiers crus, and 10% on the Grands crus, but they have replaced the oldest barrels which they have come to understand did have an effect of closing the wines down.
