Intense. Quite oaky? Sleek again, pure, but not much character. A tiny bit boring? Rating: 91 L&S (Apr 2014)

The 2013 Rayne-Vigneau possesses a slightly closed nose of spiced apples, white peaches and key lime pie with touches of beeswax and lemongrass. The palate is deliciously earthy / savory in character with a lively acid line to support and a long earth laced finish. Drinking range: 2018 - 2040 Rating: 92 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, RobertParker.com (Aug 2018)

This is gorgeous from start to finish, with toasted macadamia nut and coconut notes leading off, followed by a range of orchard and tropical fruit flavors. Drinking range: 2018 - 2033 Rating: 94 James Molesworth, The Wine Spectator (Jan 2016)

Bright, pale yellow. Lively lemon, tangerine, mango and papaya aromas are complicated by menthol and smoky botrytis. Sweet, silky and suave, delivering enticing, very pure flavors of peach nectar, guava and honey. This offers plenty of volume and richness without excess weight and finishes with sneaky length. Rating: 91-94 Ian d'Agata - Stephen Tanzer website

Château Rayne Vigneau

Sauternes Premier Cru 1855 The owners of the estate in the 17th Century (a Gabriel de Vigneau appears on deeds as far back as 1635) were the de Vigneau family. In 1834, the estate was purchased by Catherine Marie de Rayne. On her death, Château Vigneau passed to her brother and it was his son Albert de Pontac who attached his aunt's name to the estate. Today, Château Rayne Vigneau is owned by CA Grand Crus (a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole) who also own Grand-Puy-Ducasse in Pauillac and Meyney in Saint Estèphe. The 80ha vineyard overlooks the River Ciron, and is composed of 74% Semillon, 24% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle. The wines are fermented in wood and aged for up to 18 months.
