Lea & Sandeman review
Chateau Bel-Air has been home to the Borie-Coiffe family, co-owners of Ducru Beaucaillou, since 1898. Recent investment in the vineyards, planted with old vines of Merlot and Cabernet Franc on a combination of clay and gravel soils, has resulted in fabulously attractive wines. Modern in its execution (reminiscent of a 'super' Tuscan Bordeaux style blend) this is packed with ripe fruit, notes of sweet new oak and crisp tannins on the long finish. Excellent value for Bordeaux.Other reviews and comments
A lovely classic nose, with plenty of dexterous tannin - pushy but not harsh. Fine streaks of green bell pepper in deep-set ripe dark fruit. Classic, without being overly self-conscious. Neatly finished. (TC)
