2007 AMARONE CLASSICO La Marega Le Salette
2007 AMARONE CLASSICO La Marega Le Salette
| Grapes: | Origin: Italy, Veneto |
Lea & Sandeman review
La Salette is one of the leading producers in Valpolicella. Each wine from the Le Salette stable comes from a specific vineyard plot. Winemaker and proprietor Franco Scamperle is adamant that each wine must be allowed to express the character of the soil where the grapes were grown. In the vineyard the classic Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes are grown, and more unusually (and totally legally) some Sangiovese, Barbera, Teroldego, Cabernet and a few others. Up to 15% of these varieties can go into most blends in Valpolicella, and in the case of Le Salette help to produce a unique style of wine. The La Marega Amarone is made every year in greater or lesser quantities. It is dried for a month less and aged in large Slovenian oak barrels, with only about 40% in barrique.Other reviews and comments
Youthful, modern wine with powerful, oaky nose. Very drinkable, frsh and light on its feet. It is juicy with firmness and grip, bright cherry fruit and lot of finess. Sleek, lovely and very convincing. Drink: 2012-2014
