2007 BAROLO Andrea Oberto

2007 BAROLO Andrea Oberto

Grapes: Nebbiolo  Origin: Italy, Piedmont
Lea & Sandeman review
This is simply fabulous value Barolo which is already showing beautifully. The nose is made up of spices and herbs (a touch of medicinal, but in a good way) and the fruit is already evolved with lovely high toned tannins and great length. Already irresistible.

Other reviews and comments
The 2007 Barolo is a terrific entry-level bottling. It shows surprising density and richness in a medium-bodied yet generous style. The aromatics are just a touch forward, which is the only thing that keeps the score from going higher. The racy, harmonious fruit makes this an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. I see this as a great restaurant wine. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. Father and son team Andrea and Fabio Oberto have crafted some of the most exquisite wines of their careers with these sublime 2007 Baroli. From top to bottom these are superb wines I can’t recommend highly enough.   90/100
Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate
Oberto's Barolo 2007 is fabulous, complex and structured yet already quite lush and approachable - and pretty good value by Barolo standards.
Andrew Neather, The Evening Standard
Very aromatic nose with violets and dried orange peel. Tannic, with high acidity. Powerful and young still, but like so many of the 2007 Barolos this is lush and approachable now thanks to lots of sweet ripe fruit.   90 points, good value.

"This 'baby Barolo' is from the younger vines across the estate, and given six months in used oak casks really shares many of the characteristics of Oberto's Barolos, with the advantages of being immediately drinkable and a great deal less expensive. Much paler in colour than the very ripe 2009, the 2010 is a brighter, crisper style with tremendous minerality and length."
