2007 VOSNE ROMANÉE 1er Cru Suchots Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

2007 VOSNE ROMANÉE 1er Cru Suchots Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

Grapes: Pinot Noir  Origin: France, Burgundy
Lea & Sandeman review
Tasted after the Vignes Rondes, the Suchots has neither quite the lushness of the Gevreys nor the unchained rawness of the beast of Nuits - but it builds on the palate and perhaps the combination of fruit intensity and power is more than the sum of the others' parts. Wiry intensity on the finish.

Other reviews and comments
Good dark red with ruby highlights. Tangy aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, violet, spices and pepper. Fine-grained, palate-coating flavors offers terrific vibrancy and finesse. Not nearly as broad or expressive today as the Lavaux but this too really vibrates on the thoroughly ripe back end, which features big, brooding, building tannins and subtle soil notes. This one will need a good six or seven years of cellaring.   90-93/100

A superbly complex nose combines a stylish mix of red berry liqueur, blue berry and violet aromas nuanced with tea, smoke and hints of hoisin and soy introduce relatively powerful and sleekly muscled yet refined flavors underpinned by a firm tannic backbone and an explosive finish that exudes sophistication as it’s at once classy and stunningly pure. A stunner of a Suchots. 2017+   91-93/100

Racy, savoury, correct. Very sweet start then vibrant. Dry racy finish. Sincere and transparent though the oak tannins are a bit fierce. 2012-2017   17.5

Beautifully violet-scented aromatics. Lovely energy and delicacy of fruit and texture. This is almost fragile in the elusive, shimmery quality of scent and tannin. Surprisingly intense and persistent on the long, floral, mineral finish. Fine. From 2011.
Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing
There's a fine-tuned fragrance on the nose here which seems to dance around the bright and pure red fruits which also come in abundance on the nose. The palate, with a good 5 years of development to it, is opening out to show that succulent fruit. There's something distinctly modern and pure about this traditional Burgundy Pinot Noir name, and it's a style we like a great deal. (April 2012)   93
