Lea & Sandeman review
New wood has been reduced in this vintage to a mere 10%, and since all the wines go into demi-muids (twice the size of the traditional burgundy barrel), this is a very low-key influence in a wine-making style which emphasizes fruit and mineral above all. Like the Frionnes, the Chateniere is tightly drawn, intensely mineral. A very complete wine, which will give its best at four to seven years old.Other reviews and comments
Bright lemon-yellow. Ripe aromas of yellow peach and spices. Quite suave and stylish on entry, then ripe but dry in the middle, with suggestions of exotic fruits firmed on the back end by an oyster-shell minerality. With aeration, ripe but vibrant stone fruit notes emerged and the long, brisk finish retained strong minerality.

Quite glossy on the aroma. Expressive. Deep and juicy fruit on the front of the palate, then it clamps down. The ripe fruit is evident in the middle of the palate, and the smooth stone minerality comes through the oak on the finish. Probably particularly good. From 2012.

Light honeysuckle aromas. On the nose and front palate it is already open and easy although it's still a little astringent on the finish. I'd wait a while before tackling this.

Tight and focused and very impressive. This has taken on a bit more fat than when I first tasted it. No compromises. Very pure and exciting. Lamy is very much a force to be reckoned with. Really pure and much more convincing than many Meursaults, Pulignys and Chassagnes. Long. But not cheap...
