Lovely lift and precision like the Nuits Vignes Rondes, and this has more spice and elegance, and an oaky, close texture, very fine and tense and poised. Seriously excellent.

Opulent. Rich and fleshy, but streamed with fresh acidity. It is a rich and rounded Suchots. It has power. The gloss of the vintage cloaks the burly structural mature of Suchots. Unlike the 2010 you must leave this, at least until 2020. I prefer the energetic 2010, but there is not denying this is a wine which will develop long term.
18.75 (Nov 2014)

Red fruit, soft, full and ripe aroma with hints of spice and methyl. Sweet on the front of the palate. Clamps down, plenty of tannin here. Really quite muscular. Plenty of power and drive on the finish. Quite battened down carried on its long and tannic finish. Fine. From 2017/18

Ruby-red. Sexy, vibrant aromas of black fruits, pepper, bitter chocolate and minerals. Densely packed, juicy and light on its feet, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to the complex dark berry, mineral and bitter chocolate flavors. At once fine-grained and firmly structured. Best today on the superb slowly mounting finish. Like the Vignes Rondes, this really transcends the vintage.
91 - 94/100

A highly spiced and very Vosne nose offers up cassis and black raspberry aromas that precede the very seductive, concentrated and mouth coating flavors that are suave, indeed even silky yet culminate in a firm, powerful and balanced finish. 2019+
91 - 93/100

Bright crimson. Very sweet indeed. At last some purity and integrity. Very concentrated and firm with polished tannins. Some real depth of flavour to this. A certain sap and savour. Neat with medium length. Lots of pleasure here. And potential. 2016-2023

The Suchots takes a couple of minutes to unwind on the nose: dusky dark fruit, raspberry coulis, mulch, woodland. The palate is well balanced with chunky firm tannins, quite rustic but very good weight of fruit and a firm, grippy, structured finish that bodes well for cellaring. Excellent.

Still a little backward when I tasted it in January, but there’s no denying the quality here: leafy, quite firm, with marked acidity for the vintage and a fresh, tangy finish. 5-10+ years.

The nose is packed with concentrated fruit with the black fruits appearing to dominate but behind them is red cherry and mulberry. The ripeness enriches the mid palate yet there is enough freshness and structure to balance. 2014-20

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
