2009 PINOT NOIR 'Le Défi' Domaine de la Bastide
2009 PINOT NOIR 'Le Défi' Domaine de la Bastide
| Grapes: Pinot Noir | Origin: France, Languedoc-Roussillon |
Lea & Sandeman review
A dense Pinot with a silky feel and notes of black cherries and cassis. Really quite surprised us as it does such a good job of melding Pinot freshness and finesse with a bit of Mediterranean muscle. If nitpicking you could say it's a little rustic, but better to be crunchy and fresh than soupy and sweet (we thought) and this is certainly a lot of Pinot for the money.| Purchasing options | |||||||

Waipara South Island New Zealand
"Back in stock after a momentary hiatus. From now on the Crater Rim 'Canterbury' Pinot is sourced from basalt soils on the peninsula formed by one side of the 'crater rim' itself of the huge volcano in Waipara. A slightly broader, denser style than the 2009, it is full and long on the finish."
