2009 ROSSO DI MONTALCINO Collemattoni
2009 ROSSO DI MONTALCINO Collemattoni
| Grapes: Sangiovese | Origin: Italy, Tuscany |
Lea & Sandeman review
Jancis Robinson commented upon the 2008 vintage as being ' Very rude but fun and rudely fruity'. The 2009 is altogether brighter and crunchier, but still has that rather lovely 'rude' edge to it, giving this Montalcino Sangiovese such great character.Other reviews and comments
This is a mini-Brunello in all but name, a Tusacn rosso made from pure Sangiovese, or Prugnolo as the locals call it in this neck of the Tuscan woods, its bright fruit showing a cherryish fruit quality with a lively fresh bite and supple textured tannins and a rather deliciously seductive veneer of subtle oak.

Rich and rewarding and very fluid. Ambitious rather gamey red wine rather than classic Montalcino. 2012-2016
