MANJO FANGO

2010 Les Terrasses d'Éole

Grapes Mourvèdre, Marselan, Grenache
Colour Red
Origin France, Provence
ABV 14%

'Manjo Fango', or 'mange boue', is the name of the wind that 'eats mud' and dries out the vineyards. This is very immediate, very delicious, an easy wine that slips down and remains pure to the end. Made from Marselan (which is a new variety made by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon with Grenache), together with Grenache and Mourvedre. L&S (Oct 2011)

Les Terrasses d'Éole

Les Terrasses d'Éole is located in the heart of Provence, beneath Mount Ventoux, and takes its name from the God of wind, Éole, because the area is so exposed to severe 'Mistral' that blows through the Southern Rhone. Having always previously sold their grapes to the local co-operative, in 1998 Claude Saurel and his son Stéphane built a new vinification chai and embarked upon making their own wines. They own forty parcels of vines, planted on different soils - sand, stone, chalk and limestone - and make fascinating wines, both whites and reds.
