2010 RULLY 1er Cru La Pucelle Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson
| Grapes: Chardonnay | Origin: France, Burgundy |
Lea & Sandeman review
Paul’s daughter has taken over the wine-making here – and continues to craft beautiful wines punching well above their weight for the appellation. She was named young winemaker of the year at the Hospices de Beaune in 2010.From vines planted in 1992 and 1993. A mixture of limestone and clay. This is just so delightfully sleek. Smoothly, stonily mineral with delightful strain of sweet fruit. As always it is Puligny-like. Excellent.

2010 Burgundy
Few wine lovers can fail to have noticed the furore surrounding the 2010 Burgundy vintage - it's a well-worn epithet but 2010 was an excellent vintage and one that will find a space in most well-stocked cellars. Whilst most of the attention was lavished on wines for keeping, there are a few little gems that you can tuck into, more or less, straight away. Here's a fine selection to give you a feel for the vintage and, maybe, tempt you into squirreling some away for the future.
Côte Chalonnaise Burgundy France
"One of the classic Aligotés, even if not quite from the new Bouzeron appellation (which is next door). Lovely interplay between the very bright, slightly 'acidulé' feel and the sweetness of expression and stony purity. Keen and firm. "
