As exuberant as ever, this is a real can of tropical fruit juice, with notes of sweet lychees, pineapple, mango and citrus. Appeals to many, but not all. L&S (Nov 2011)

Green-tinged yellow. Good dusty, spicy lift to the ripe, inviting aromas of orange pith, grapefruit and minerals. Broad, supple and ripe, with harmonious acidity giving shape to the sexy soft citrus, tropical fruit and dusty herb flavors. Easygoing for this bottling, conveying very good but not outstanding grip. Finishes pure and persistent, with a slight narrowing at the end. Rating: 90 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sept 2012)

It's incredible to think in all these years we haven't reviewed this wine which has such cult status. Well now the time has come! The price still reflects the wine's iconic status, which is impressive given the strong competition today. This has dazzling lime flavours with a strong lemon character too - more like lemon curd rather than fresh lemons. Taut on the palate with searing acidity and pithy grapefruit-flavoured chewiness. It's undeniably a good wine, but for the price....? Rating: 89 The Wine Gang - www.thewinegang.com (Jul 2012)

Cloudy Bay

Cloudy Bay needs no introduction. Such a successful exercise of branding and styling means that everybody knows about this now iconic NZ producer. Established in 1985 by the Cape Mentelle team from Western Australia, The is committed to producing ‘wines of region’ and strives to enhance the pure, bracing flavours and stunning vibrancy, naturally afforded by the climate and soils of Marlborough. This unique and cool wine region enjoys a maritime climate with the longest hours of sunshine of any place in New Zealand. The winery takes its name from the bay at the eastern extremity of the Wairau Valley, which was named Cloudy Bay by Captain Cook on his voyage to New Zealand in 1770.
