Dusty nose and very fine and lively on the palate with no excess of fruit but very correct and with a hint of tonic water – quinine hint?
16 (Dec 2015)

Amphitheatre which catches the sun. Straight and vigorous on the palate. This is very nicely compact in the middle palate. There is firm density and layering. Good well ripened fruit and tension with colder minerality. The finish is straight, long and nicely intense for a St Aubin premier cru. Density and energy combined. Particularly good+. from 2016

Real energy on the nose. Lots of fruit and drive. Complete. GV 2014-2020

The 2011 St. Aubin Clos de la Chatenière is endowed with tremendous depth and texture, much of which comes from the 50 year-old vines. Tangerine, honey and almonds are some of many notes that flesh out in the glass. Juicy, layered and deeply expressive, the 2011 is another wine with a lot to offer. The finish alone will leave readers longing for another taste. Simply put, the 2011 is drop-dead gorgeous.

The nose is deeper richer fruited and these ripe flavours fill out the start of the palate. The mid palate is quite light with fresh with lime and apple backed by minerals and flint all giving a racy freshness to the finish. 2013-18

Quite rich and succulent, with ample fruit and some mineral bite. Not especially nuanced now but shows nice lift and the purity expected from St-Aubin, wih nice control and cool flavours. Drink 2013 - 2019

Olivier Lamy, has built on the solid foundations his father Hubert prepared with twenty years and more of work in the vineyards. Today the Domaine has 18.5 hectares of vines - 80% are Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. The vines are in several appellations - Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay. The reputation of the domaine is now made, but the Saint Aubins, both red and white remain some of the bargains of Côte d'Or, and challenge the supposed superiority of the grander villages on a regular basis, both in terms of young and mature wines.
