Lea & Sandeman review
VP stands for 'vieillissement prolongée' (extended ageing). Bottled in 1999, made from 1998 vintage, 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. Six or seven years in the cellar before disgorgement, with a virtually non-existent dosage. Lots of power and elegance.Other reviews and comments
Yellow-gold. Pungent, smoky apple, pear, apricot and peach pit aromas, with a strong hazelnut undertone. Buttery, almost toffeed apple flavor is deep, rich and powerful. A chewy, weighty Champagne with a mature character and complex oxidative qualities. Finishes nutty and dry, with very good length. "V.P." stands for vieillisement prolonge, or prolonged aging: this is a blend of wines back to 1995.
