2007 COLÉCCION Cuvelier los Andes
2007 COLÉCCION Cuvelier los Andes
| Grapes: Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah Petit Verdot Merlot | Origin: Argentina, Mendoza |
Lea & Sandeman review
Blend of Malbec, with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% each of Syrah and Petit Verdot, 60% of which is aged eleven months in French oak barrels, of which 50% are new. Thick and richly textured with volumous fruit yet very drinkable and cool on the finish.Other reviews and comments
From the Cuvelier family (proprietors of Chateau Leoville Poyferre in Bordeaux) Los Andes’ 2007 Collecion is a blend of 60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. Sixty percent of the wine was aged in French oak for 12 months. A glass-coating opaque purple, it displays a perfumed nose of cedar, cinnamon, violets, black cherry, and black currant. Full-bodied, smooth-textured, and plush on the palate, it has layers of savory fruit, some underlying tannin, and excellent balance. This lengthy effort will benefit from 2-3 years of additional cellaring and offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2019.

2009 CARO Bodegas Caro
Argentina
"CARO, from CAtena and ROthschild, has a strong Argentine identity, heralded by Malbec, while obtaining further elegance and complexity through blending with Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination has made a rich and refined wine; a harmonious balance between the Argentine and Bordeaux styles. About 70 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon and 30 per cent Malbec. Aged in barrel for 18 months - 60% of which are new. Winemaker's notes"
