20% new wood, and this is the first of Olivier's 2011s which shows a hint of it on the first nose. Warmth and floral, fresh spring flowers. A sunny joyfulness springing from the mineral base. Bright and pure. L&S (Jan 2013)

Dusty nose and very fine and lively on the palate with no excess of fruit but very correct and with a hint of tonic water – quinine hint? Drinking range: 2015 - 2019 Rating: 16 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com(Dec 2015)

Quite rich and succulent, with ample fruit and some mineral bite. Not especially nuanced now but shows nice lift and the purity expected from St-Aubin, wih nice control and cool flavours. Drink 2013 - 2019 Rating: 18 Decanter Magazine(Sep 2014)

The nose is deeper richer fruited and these ripe flavours fill out the start of the palate. The mid palate is quite light with fresh with lime and apple backed by minerals and flint all giving a racy freshness to the finish. 2013-18 Rating: 90 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk(Dec 2013)

The 2011 St. Aubin Clos de la Chatenière is endowed with tremendous depth and texture, much of which comes from the 50 year-old vines. Tangerine, honey and almonds are some of many notes that flesh out in the glass. Juicy, layered and deeply expressive, the 2011 is another wine with a lot to offer. The finish alone will leave readers longing for another taste. Simply put, the 2011 is drop-dead gorgeous. Rating: 92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com(Nov 2013)

Rating: 17.5+ Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com(Jan 2013)

Rating: 92 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com(Jan 2013)

Real energy on the nose. Lots of fruit and drive. Complete. GV 2014-2020 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com(Jan 2013)

Amphitheatre which catches the sun. Straight and vigorous on the palate. This is very nicely compact in the middle palate. There is firm density and layering. Good well ripened fruit and tension with colder minerality. The finish is straight, long and nicely intense for a St Aubin premier cru. Density and energy combined. Particularly good+. from 2016Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing(Nov 2012)

Domaine Hubert Lamy

Olivier Lamy has built on the solid foundations his father Hubert prepared with twenty years and more of work in the vineyards. Today the Domaine has 18.5 hectares of vines - 80% are Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. The vines are in several appellations - Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay, as well as the excellent Bourgogne Blanc. The reputation of the domaine is now made, but the Saint Aubins, both red and white, remain some of the bargains of Côte d'Or, and challenge the supposed superiority of the grander village names on a regular basis, both in terms of young and mature wines.

Olivier's wine-making style and preference is to emphasise the fresh and the mineral side of his wines, and in 2016 and 2017 there was no new wood at all, and that is with the wines in 600 litre demi-muids rather that the classic Burgundy (225 litre) fût. Certainly Oliver's whites do have an arrow-like purity and intensity, and seem to age completely straight and true.

The reds are worth more than a casual mention too. Olivier has been getting some consultation help from Sylvain Pataille, and the wines have energy and bounce along with the supple tannins and ripeness.
