Vintage Champagne
Vintage Champagne is, of course, the product of one single year. But more than that, Vintage Champagnes are special selections from the best vintages, and are aged for longer (legally at least 3 years, usually more) prior to degorgement. They tend to be more complex, deeper more vinous experiences than non-vintage and have some capacity for further ageing.

2013 LARMANDIER-BERNIER Terre de Vertus Non Dosé 1er Cru
Champagne France 12.5% White
Chardonnay. Bio-dynamic, Organic
100% Chardonnay from Premier Crus vineyards planted in 1982 and 1962, given absolutely no 'dosage', making it an ultra brut, and in Pierre Larmandier's words a true expression of the Vertus 'terroir'. Elegant, restrained, with toasty, citrus flavours and underlying minerality this really i...(read more)

2012 LEGRAS Présidence Vieilles Vignes Brut Grand Cru Chouilly R & L Legras
Champagne France 12.5% White
Chardonnay.
A relatively low dosage vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne from Grand Cru vineyards in the Cote des Blancs, aged for 4 years before degorgement. Clean, brisk Blanc de Blancs structure with fresh acidity but gentle apricot brioche notes too. Complex and refreshing.

2013 LOUIS ROEDERER Vintage Brut
Champagne France 12% White
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir.
Golden yellow hue with clear, bright tints. Elegant, dynamic and softly integrated effervescence. The nose is initially subtle and quite restrained. 2008 LEGRAS Cuvée Saint Vincent Brut Grand Cru Chouilly R & L Legras
Champagne France 12% White
Chardonnay.
Legras' top vintage cuvée is the sublime Saint Vincent from Grand Cru vineyards in Chouilly. Crunchingly dry with brisk Blanc de Blancs acidity, but overlayed with rich brioche, yeast, and baked apple and pear characters. Exciting now but capable of ageing with some distinction.

2011 LARMANDIER-BERNIER Vieille Vigne du Levant Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru Cramant
Champagne France White
Chardonnay. Bio-dynamic, Organic
I'm increasingly convinced that Pierre Larmandier produced Champagne's wines of the vintage this year, and the 2011 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vieille Vigne du Levant only compounds that suspicion. Unfurling in the glass with a deep and complex nose of citrus zest, crisp yellow a...(read more)

2013 LARMANDIER-BERNIER Les Chemins d'Avize Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru
Champagne France White
Chardonnay. Bio-dynamic, Organic
The 2013 Extra Brut Les Chemins d'Avize Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is floral and gracious, much more so than is common in Avize Champagnes, which tend to have more body. The 2013 is beautifully perfumed and ethereal from start to finish, with striking beams of salinity that confer tension....(read more)

All from Ambonnay. Rich nose, deep notes of confit fruit and fresh fleshy red fruit - strawberry and raspberry, mingling with autolytic amplitude and generosity. Fabulous length again.

2008 TAITTINGER Comtes de Champagne Brut Gift-Pack Stock
Champagne France 12% White
Chardonnay.
A slightly more luxurious nature to the 2008 than the great 2007. Full-bodied with a lovely framework of acidity and dry fruit, such as apples, pears and peaches. Opulent. Dense and muscular. Yet, it’s balanced and harmonious. Line of acidity at the end. One for the cellar. Release in 2020...(read more)

2002 BILLECART SALMON Cuvée NF Billecart Brut
Champagne France 12% White
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier.
In a recent tasting of the very best Champagnes by James Suckling, this exquisite fizz came second - with an equal score to Vintage Krug 2000 and ahead of all the other big names, Dom Perignon, Cristal et al. It was beaten only by Salon 2002 which costs much more than twice price. A delici...(read more)

Disgorged in November 2017 after 13 years on the lees, the stunning 2004 Blanc des Millénaires is a worthy successor to the 1995. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of green apple, pear, brioche and fresh pastry that are framed by a lovely smoky, autolytic top note, the wine is full...(read more)
