Toby Jamieson's Wine List

What I'm Drinking Now

For the summer, I’ve gone for a nice seasonal mix for you all.

Any good meal always starts well with a glass or two of bubbles, so if you’re a fan of pink, the Hebrat is one of my favourite rose champagnes at the moment, and on the white, I think Maillart’s champagnes, particularly his vintage ones, are amongst my favourite of all of our growers.
The Les Acacias I tried again recently, and it’s one of the finest whites from the Rhône under £20 I’ve put to the taste. It simply get going and the Marsanne and Rousanne merged beautifully. Every time we have our annual Italian tasting, one of my standout white choices is the Rigogoli Salviano, which is simply fabulous for this time of year.
The Hunting Hill is probably the most ‘Puligny like’ of the single vinyeards at Kumeu, and for all you Chardonnay lovers, It’s zippy, powerful with well integrated oak.
Moving onto the reds, some classic summer choices here.
The Côte de Brouilly goes down as a real favourite of mine for this price point. It’s a delicious fruit bomb and great value.
The Rippon ‘Rippon’ is their flagship estate wine, and we were delighted to welcome Nick Mills, the owner winemaker in the office to take through the current range. As ever, the Rippon sings out of the glass but also has a lovely subtle smoothness it. A great partner for a roast chicken summer supper.
Finally, one of my go to Garnachas at the moment, from Ritme cellar. The Plaer is a great summer bbq wine. Lots of power, acidity, grip and deliciousness all rolled into one. Enjoy and drop me a line if you need anything!
