To the north of Verona, in and around the Monti Lessini hills, are the vineyards of Valopolicella. Classic Valpolicella is very light with slight sour cherry note to the fruit. At the other extreme, Valpolicella also produces the iconic red wine Amarone from grapes dried prior to fermentation.
