Port
The beautiful, precarious, remote slopes of the upper Douro valley have brought forth that quintessence of the English dinner table - Port - for a couple of hundred years or so. Traditional 'Ruby' Port is a classic after dinner, great with Stilton and makes a popular gift. Tawny Port, longer aged in wood for the more mellow nuttier character, serves equally well before or after dinner, often lightly chilled. White Port, drier and fresher is largely designed as an aperitif but has also made light forays into the cocktail scene.
