Last weekend saw the Tuscan hill town of Montalcino come alive to celebrate the ‘new releases’ at the annual Benvenuto Brunello. This year the wines released are the 2013 Brunellos and the 2012 Brunello Riservas – two very different vintages which have produced some very exciting wines. 2013 is a return to a more classical feel, a style we love, offering wines that are loaded with nuance and charm. As ever because of our close relationship with three of the greatest growers here, we are able to offer some of the very best wines from Montalcino, keenly anticipated and now just released. Please read our notes on each individual producer below.
‘The summer (2013) was characterized by cool nights and warm days, thus prolonging the growing season and allowing for added complexity and nuance in a late-ripening grape like Sangiovese. This vintage promises excellent results in many parts of the appellation.’
